chance for showers. there are light sprinkles out there. they already crossed south of baltimore. there's more up into southern pennsylvania. so it's just showing that it's going to be a little more unsettled today. i think for baltimore, our best chance is to see more showers will be in afternoon. if you have outdoor plans i would start off the day thinking you could be outdoors. it's the evening hours that we may see more showers. 54 at the airport. high temperature today just as cool, in the low 70s. again, that chance for showers starting late in the afternoon towards the evening hours. we'll talk about what comes up in the seven day which includes more rain. stay tuned. our big story. once again the orioles. it was a little closer last night, but they once again take down the red sox. >> right. how about them o's. manny machado turns a double play to get the o's out of the inning. then a few innings later the 19-year-old breaks a 3-3 tie with his seventh home run of the year. that's where the score would stay. tying them for first in the the american league east with the yankees. p

-day forecast and carry through next weekend. >> a woman is dead after a fire in northeast baltimore. >> it happen on sunday morning on north avenue. kim dacey is live downtown with the latest. >> the victim was an 88-year-old woman who lived in the home with other family members. she was the only one inside the home when the fire started. officials say the fire started just after 6:30 sunday evening on east north avenue near collington avenue in northeast baltimore. firefighters say a neighbor was hurt trying to get into the home to save the victim. he was rushed to the hospital with a possible leg fracture. the body was found inside the home. officials do not know how she died. they think it was due to smoke inhalation and burns. neighbors say it was a terrible scene. >> i saw the flames shooting up out from the first floor and the flames were so thick and intense. i've never seen any flames like that before. it was really, really bad. >> the whole neighborhood -- everybody in the neighborhood that came around trying to help, getting people out of their houses and stuff. >> the cau

that baltimore city police have been responding to in the past 20 minutes or so. baltimore city police tweeted about three different shootings in the last 20 minutes. one of them happen on frankfurt avenue. two people were shot in the 2200 block of south even street. they have responded to seven shootings at five locations in the past 24 hours. that is how busy they have been just this labor day. seven people shot in five different incidents across the city. all the situations remain under investigation. we will pass along updates as we get them. sheldon dutes, wbal-tv 11 news. >> stake and harford county police need your help in identifying a driver who struck a female pedestrian of around 7:40 this evening. authorities said they found a woman struck by a car on southbound route 1 just north of here agree bypass. they said the woman was apparently waving her arms. the person the second vehicle swerved and tried to avoid her but struck her with the passenger side mirror. the victim was 28 years old and was taken to shock trauma where she is said to be in stable condition. anyone with informati

brought football back to baltimore. 11 news sunday morning starts right now. >> welcome to the sunday news. our top stories in a moment. first what a day it was yesterday, weather wise. >> we had some very strong storms through the area. even a few reports of severe weather, whether it be in montgomery, washington county, frederick county, also possible funnel reported by an officer near sandy point. so possibly there was a funnel near the area. nonetheless, we did have some strong storms that brought down some trees. as we look at hd doppler, we can see that front finally moving off shore. rain showers still left along the lower eastern shore including rain right now in ocean city, but it has cleared out as you look across southern maryland, baltimore, even in the western start of the state. this is all changing now as we get throughout the day. that front is heading off shore. we are looking for beautiful conditions. currently around 60 degrees. we're moving for high temperatures up near 80. you're gonna wake up to clouds and a few showers across the lower eastern shore. and cooling skie

our big story tonight, street racing for the pros in downtown baltimore. some of the most skilled drivers in the world will lead their high octane racecars in the second annual grand prix of baltimore. >> right now, crews are beginning their overnight worked to smooth out some of the bumps along the track that they complained about. some of the issues are right down here that caused a minor crash. despite all of that, day one qualifying put on a great show. >> the speed is not twisting. -- neck twisting. skill is simply amazing. >> this is the best thing we have ever seen. >> grand prix baltimore is officially back. >> the rumble of the seats, the rumble of your face, the panic of them going around the corner. first and race cars take over downtown baltimore. a look at the first full day of the grand prix of baltimore. 11 news saturday morning starts right now. >> you're watching wbal tv-11, live, local, late breaking. this is 11 news saturday morning. >> i'm lisa robinson. >> and i'm jennifer franciotti. we will get to our top stories in a second but we will look oue with john collins. i saw stars and a full moon. >> and scattered clouds, as well, and surprisingly, moisture from isaac is getting closer to us. yesterday it was way to the west in missouri and arkansas and moving into iowa and it was hot yesterday. today, it will be warm, a little more humid and that moisture from that storm will get closer to us. it's showing up on radar now nearby. let's look at our h.d. doppler radar. you can see that out in garrett county we are seeing shower activity and in west virginia, thunderstorm activity going on at this stage of the game. this is all sliding to the east, the initial moisture, not a major part of the forecast today but it is part of the holiday weekend forecast. i'll detail th

's. >> this is wbal 11 news in baltimore. >> it's 8:26. baltimore city police are investigating a shooting involving several of their own officers that happened around 10:00 p.m. on lorraine avenue. police say detectives observed an armed man who ran inside and the man drew a semi-automatic handgun, pointing it in the direction of police. the detectives have been placed on administrative duty. baltimore county police called to the 7100 block of darlington drive in parkville tee bee's bar where investigators found tavares lonell jones. he was stabbed while breaking up a fight. jones was taken to the hospital where he later died. city fire officials are trying to determine what sparked a fire that killed one person in east baltimore. this picture was provided by the baltimore city fire department. the fire happened just before 3:00 saturday in the 15000 block of holbrook street. neighbors say the victim was known in the neighborhood. >> he was a good guy. he was a real good guy. everybody loved him in the neighborhood. everybody loved him. the whole neighborhood knew him well. >> police say while sear
